Japan: Mount Aso erupts, spewing cloud of ash over Kumamoto region

Description

Mount Aso, the largest active volcano in Japan, erupted on Wednesday, spewing a cloud of ash and smoke over the Kumamoto region in the south of the country. Timelapse footage shows the moments of the eruption. A column of white smoke could be seen rising from the volcano before it exploded with a cloud of dark ash and smoke engulfing the area. Mount Aso had last erupted in 2016.
