Led by Gedolei Yisrael representing the entire cross-section of Torah observant Jewry, the recent Dirshu Convention was not just a convention is was a demonstration, a rally that showed that Torah learning can be sweet for every Jew. No matter who you are and no matter what you do. At a time when unity often seems so elusive, the Convention recently held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel was one featured wonderful achdus. Ashkenazim, Sephardim, Chassidish, Litvish, American and Heimish – all were there with one goal, to learn and know Torah. The word achdus, however, is perhaps a misnomer. The Convention crystallized the fact that when the common denominator is thirst for yedias haTorah, an unending drive to know Torah and learn with accountability all outer trappings fade. The sight of a Skverer Chossid deep in conversation with a government employee from Baltimore debating a pshat in Tosafos isn’t achdus. There was never anything substantial separating them! The outer levush is so insignificant in relation to their absolutely identical, inner core of Torah. The sight of a Sephardic baal habayis deep in conversation with a Litvish kollel yungerman from Lakewood and a Satmar Chossid from Monroe clarifying a difficulty in hilchos Shabbos with a Detroit native, is not achdus. There was never anything significant separating them! At a Dirshu convention when all are deeply bound together, united through Torah regardless of outer trappings, one feels an inkling of that exalted day to come when we will all come together under the banner of Moshiach! Watch and enjoy! הריקוד, שהתנחשל לו באולם עם סיום ה'מלוה מלכה', סימל יותר מכל את ארועי הכנסיה העולמית של 'דרשו'. בחוץ המתינה שורה ארוכה של אוטובוסים במנועים מופעלים. השעה היתה כבר אחת בלילה, או לפנות בוקר, והאוטובוסים עמדו כשהם נכונים לקלוט את ההמונים שיסעו עמם לויליאמסבורג ולבורו פארק, למונסי ולליקווד, למונרו ולפלטבוש, אך הם חיכו וחיכו. בפנים סער האולם וגעש בריקוד של "דרשו ה' ועוזו, בקשו פניו תמיד" שיותר משהוא משמש כהמנון של הארגון הוא בעצם מבטא את מהותו, ועל אף העובדה שגם המשתתפים ציפו כבר לחזור לבתיהם אותם עזבו בשעות המוקדמות של יום שישי, אך ניכר היה שקשה עליהם הפרידה. הריקוד חתם את סעודת המלוה מלכה, שחתמה את ארועי הועידה, שכולה היתה קודש למען המטרה הנעלה שהיא מתן כבוד ויקר לתורה וללומדיה. במהלך כל השבת שימשו התפילות, הסעודות, הדרשות, הכיבודים והשעות של בין לבין למען אותה מטרה אחת ויחידה: לתת כבוד והערכה לבני שבט לוי של דורנו, לעמלי התורה המקדישים את עיתותיהם לשקידה בתורה, כך שכאשר ישובו לבתיהם הם יוסיפו שקידה על שקידתם, עמל על עמלם. היו שם תלמידי חכמים מובהקים, בעלי תריסין בהלכה – אברכי כולל שתורתם היא אמנותם, והיא אמנותם היחידה. לצידם היו גם כאלו שמוגדרים אולי בשפתינו כ'בעלי בתים', השולחים ידם במסחר, אך בד בבד הם משובצים באחת ממסגרות 'דרשו' אם ב'קניין ש"ס', אם ב'דף היומי להלכה', כשהם צוברים לעצמם כחוק ולא יעבור בכל יום שעות של לימוד ורוכשים חלק משלהם בתורה. במהלך כל השבת הם נהנו מ'שבת חיזוק' שבה חוו מעין דמעין מאותו יקר וגדולה שנועד לעמלי התורה. ואין פלא, כי עם סיומה של השבת, וי אבדה נפש, הם חשו שאינם מסוגלים להיפרד. וכך נמשך לו הריקוד ונמשך, עדי נקטעה השירה הסוחפת ועמה באה הקריאה: שובו לכם לאהליכם. http://www.dirshu.co.il/%D7%91%D7%9E%D7%A2%D7%9E%D7%93-%D7%9E%D7%9C%D7%95%D7%94-%D7%9E%D7%9C%D7%9B%D7%94-%D7%9E%D7%A4%D7%95%D7%90%D7%A8-%D7%A0%D7%A0%D7%A2%D7%9C%D7%94-%D7%94%D7%9B%D7%A0%D7%A1%D7%99%D7%94-%D7%94%D7%A2/
