Thanks for watching the video [A powerful lesson (Inspiration with Reb Shea Rubenstein. (Ep.26)]
In this installment of "Words of Inspiration by Reb Shea," we learn the powerful lesson of not forgetting to do chessed to those closest to us.
A rabbi once called over a mispallel and and that they meet in his office for an important matter. Sensing the urgency, the man requested they discuss it right there over the phone. The rabbi insisted that the matter is so important that it's best he rush over and meet him in person. Of course, the mispallel came over immediately and the rabbi revealed that a member of the community was in desperate need of tzedaka and needs $5000 or else his family will be evicted not to mention they had no money for food and bills. The man didn't hesitate and immediately took out a check. "Who should i make it out to?" he asked. He was shocked when the rabbi answered, " Your brother."
How often do we rush to help others neglecting our own loved ones that are struggling. This Pesach, and all year round, lets be mindful of helping out everybody that may need assistance, especially those close to us.
