Everyone is making the obvious Purim comparison, Haman and modern enemies, Achashverosh and today’s leaders, Mordechai as political resistance.
But what if that misses the real prophetic message?
Purim is not just a story of Jewish survival. It’s not just another tale of antisemitism repeating itself. And it’s not even salvation in the same way as Passover.
On Pesach, we were helpless. Slaves. Hashem split the sea and fought for us.
On Purim, something completely different happened.
The Jews were given permission to fight, not just to defend themselves, but to act. The Megillah describes a shift from fear and fasting to strength and responsibility. Jewish power was no longer hidden, waiting, or purely reactive. It was unleashed.
What changed wasn’t just the decree.
What changed was the posture.
Purim represents a spiritual maturation of the Jewish people from dependence to responsibility, from miraculous rescue to moral courage, from waiting for salvation to stepping into the strength Hashem planted within us.
Especially in a post, October 7th world, this message feels urgent.
Are we meant only to survive?
Or are we meant to prevent?
This video Tehila Gimpel explores the deeper prophetic layer of Purim, the arc from Nissan to Adar, and what it means for Israel and the Jewish people today.
