Yisroel Leshes - My Mother's Shabbos Candles
Description
A hot jazz retake of My Mother's Shabbos Candles, a lesser-known classic from the Yiddish Theater era. Yisroel Leshes, the Assistant Chazan at Manhattan's Lincoln Square Synagogue, is collaborating with musicians from New York's jazz scene to recreate the music of the Yiddish Theater's heyday (1900-1945) with fresh, modern interpretations. Performed live at The Mansion, NYC, in January 2020. The Mansion is a pop-up jazz house featuring Jewish and Israeli artists, with kosher gastronomy. https://themansion.nyc To follow Yisroel - Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3dVbrWW5qrVskenUF_qDFQ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/yisroel.leshes Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/yisroel.leshes For more on The Mansion - Website: https://themansion.nyc Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/themansionjazz Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mansionjazz My Mother's Sabbath Candles Composed by: Jack Yellen in 1951 Jazz arrangement by: Adam Podd Piano - Adam Podd Drums - Peter Traunmueller Bass - Julia Adamy Clarinet/Tenor Sax - Owen Broder Trumpet - Danny Jonokuchi Baritone Sax - Lily White Audio captured and mixed by: Joseph Branciforte (Grayfade) Video by: Asaf Blasberg
