Benny Friedman and Baruch Levine perform a heartfelt cover of "The Man From Vilna," originally by Abie Rotenberg. This special rendition was inspired by the emotional words of Einav Danino, who spoke about her son Ori while he was held hostage by Hamas (@remember__ori_danino). The lyrics have been adapted to reflect the strength, hope, and resilience of those still held captive and the unity of Am Yisrael. Through the pain and tears, we continue to dance, sing, and hold on to our Emunah, knowing that Am Yisrael Chai. LYRICS I once met a hero, whom I will not soon forget Her “heart was trapped in Gaza”, but to hope she held on yet The sadness that she carried, yet the strength that she did bear She would one day hug her child, she would never despair Her story was our people’s, etched into our hearts Where to go and what to do, emotions torn apart A car riddled with bullets, but Tehillim she did say It took me back some months ago, to that cold October day “We danced round and round in circles as if the world had done no wrong As if to silence our emotions, and to fill the Shul with song. Though we had no idea, of what the future would still bring We danced between the teardrops, on that night we did sing. In the months that were to follow, tribulations of all kinds Our hearts were in the East, loved ones on our minds While there were days that brought tidings, that shook us to the core Am Yisrael stood united, we would always endure. Holding on to our Emunah, from the ashes we did rise We’ve turned our hearts to Heaven, knowing He will hear our cries, In a world filled with confusion, we will always be the spark And carry on a mother’s love, although Ori’s light’s gone dark We’ll dance round and round in circles as if the world has done no wrong From evening until morning, we will fill our Shuls with song While we think of our Kedoshim, and hold them in our hearts We know that through our Simcha, the Jewish people will live on. We’ll dance round and round in circles as if the world has done no wrong From evening until morning, we will fill our Shuls with song And with our Sifrei Torah, our joy will make its way on High Until the days we’ll know no sorrow, Am Yisrael Chai C
