Fire Breaks Out in Yeshiva Dormitory on 41st Street — All Students Safely Evacuated
Description
Last night, around 11:20pm, firefighters responded to a basement fire at a home on 41st Street, just off 10th Avenue, which also serves as a Yeshiva dormitory. The blaze, which produced thick smoke that filled the entire house and spread outside, prompted a swift response from the city’s fire personnel. Thanks to quick action, all buchurim were safely evacuated before the fire could cause any injuries. Many students were still in their night clothing when they were escorted out of the building. In addition to the safe evacuation, Shomrim members were able to save a Sefer Torah that was inside the building, preventing what could have been a significant loss. Fire officials quickly contained the fire in the basement, and the building sustained only minor damage. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
