Rockland County paused today to remember the Brinks robbery that shook the community more than four decades ago. On October 20, 1981, armed men ambushed a Brinks armored truck in Nyack, killing several people.
Residents gathered at 4:00 p.m. at the Brinks Memorial, located at the corner of Route 59 and Mountainview Avenue, to honor the lives lost and reflect on the tragedy that forever changed Rockland. This marked the 44th annual ceremony, a moment for the community to come together, remember the victims, and acknowledge the lasting impact of that day.
The Brinks robbery remains one of the most notorious crimes in the county’s history
