Before a life begins, a neshamah rests in perfect clarity — basking in pure light beneath the Throne of Hashem. No struggle. No doubt. Only truth.
But then the curtain softly closes, and the soul descends… into a world of confusion, darkness, and choice. A world where purpose is discovered only through challenge.
This film traces that journey — from the heavenly stillness of the soul’s beginning to the cold stone prison of Petersburg, where the Alter Rebbe sat unjustly, accused for helping the poor.
A senior minister, searching for truth, removes his medals and enters the cell in secrecy. Standing before the Rebbe, he asks the ancient question Hashem posed to Adam: “Ayeka — Where are you?”
How could the Master of the Universe not know man’s place?
The Rebbe answers gently: It is not a question of location. It is a question for every soul, in every generation. What are you doing with the time, the gifts, the mission Hashem placed in your hands? And you… at 64… where do you stand?”
The astonished minister had never revealed his age. At that moment, he understood the greatness before him.
This story is our story.
Each neshamah that once basked in perfect light is sent downward for one reason: to reveal a light no angel can reveal Above.
Every mitzvah, every act of kindness, every spark lifted from darkness becomes a step of ascent — higher than where the soul began.
This video invites you to hear the call:
Ayeka — Where are you?
And to answer with your life, your purpose, your light.
