I composed this song with a broken heart on October 9, 2023, two days after the October 7 attack, after hearing about the terrible tragedy that took place in Eretz Yisroel on Simchas Torah.
This video is of me singing 'Acheinu' (אחינו) with my yeshiva, Yeshiva of Cherry Hill, at a kumzitz we had some time following October 7.
The lyrics are taken from the classic Acheinu prayer, written by our sages:
Our brothers, the entire House of Israel,
who are found in distress and captivity,
who stand whether at sea or whether on land,
may the Omnipresent One have mercy on them,
and remove them from pain to comfort,
from darkness to light,
and from bondage to redemption,
now, speedily, at a time that comes soon,
and let us say: Amen.
