A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded in Chestnut Ridge on Sunday morning when a tree collapsed onto a vehicle on South Pascack Road, crushing the car and trapping the driver — a yungerman, Yisroel Meir Freeman, in his lower 30s, who was on his way to kollel and was a father of three children. The incident occurred in the driveway at 445 South Pascack Road, where the force of the impact left the vehicle mangled. Despite the severity of the crash, the yungerman was conscious when emergency personnel arrived. Ramapo Police, South Spring Valley Fire Department, Chaverim of Rockland, and Rockland Hatzoloh all responded within minutes and worked intensely to free him from the wreckage. Hatzoloh Paramedics immediately transported him to Westchester Medical Center, where doctors rushed him into emergency surgery. Sadly, due to significant blood loss, the yungerman was niftar in the operating room despite all efforts.
