The Divrei Yisroel of Modzitz was not just a Rebbe. He was one of the towering composers of Chassidish music, with niggunim that were thoughtful, powerful, and clearly shaped. During World War I, as he was forced to flee Europe, many of his handwritten compositions were lost. What remained survived through memory alone, preserved by family members and devoted chasidim who carried the melodies with them and refused to let them fade. Rikud Hakozak is one of those surviving niggunim. Over the years, it became a beloved Mitzvah Tantz niggun within the Modzitz circles, a melody that naturally carried the energy and dignity of that moment. Gesher, with its mission to keep original Chasidish music alive, is reviving this niggun together with Moti Weiss, presenting it with authenticity, depth, and the respect this legacy deserves.
