During the ongoing peace negotiations in Egypt, the revered Breslover Mashpia, Rabbi Yaakov Meir Shechter shlit”a, was heard singing Arabic melodies in his sukkah.
He explained a profound spiritual idea — that by singing the songs of one’s enemies, their power is spiritually subdued.
It was his former attendant, Reb Avrum Bornstein, who reminded him of this unique segulah.
The melody he chose? “Ya Mustafa,” a famous Lebanese tune — now uplifted and transformed into a niggun shel kedushah in the holy sukkah of the Mashpia.
