In 2012, during my tenure as Chairman of the Ulster County Legislature, I had the distinct honor of presenting Catskills Hatzalah with the Pride of Ulster County Award, at the Grand Opening of their new Garage and Dispatch Center. It was a moment filled with pride and optimism for their future endeavors. Fast forward twelve years, and I was thrilled to return as a Sullivan County Legislator to their Annual Public Safety and Emergency Services Appreciation Dinner. The event was a remarkable gathering, showcasing the unwavering support of our community with well over 300 Public Safety and Emergency Service personnel in attendance from all over New York State. At the dinner tonight, it was truly heartwarming to see so many familiar faces from Ulster County, including Steve Kelly, CEO of Ellenville Hospital, and Ulster County Sheriff Juan Figueroa, alongside many other cherished friends from Ulster County. A heartfelt congratulations to NYS Police Superintendent Steven G. James for his well-deserved honor tonight, as well as to Sullivan County Dispatcher Chris Kelly, NYS Trooper Chris Kelly, and Catskills Hatzalah for their remarkable recognition. Your unwavering dedication to public safety and service is nothing short of inspiring. The diverse range of agencies present was a testament to the collaborative spirit within New York State.
