Basi Legani 5724, Class Two.
This is the first class that explains Perek 14.
He explores two points.
Point One: the idea that creation happens through ואתה which the Taya explains to mean אותיות מא’ עד ת’ וה’ מוצאות הפה, the Rebbe explains that this means creation through Tzimtzum (concealment).
Point Two: another point from Tanya (Shaar HaYichud VihaEmuna Perek 2) is developed: The Possuk says ואתה מחי’ את כולם which the Alter Rebbe explains אל תיקרי מחי’ אלא מהוה; which our Rebbe further develops: don’t read ONLY מחי’ה read it to mean מהוה ALSO.
He explains that the קרי is the more obvious idea, and the אל תקרי is an idea that is not so easily apparent but is actually deeper.
And, in this case, we can see God through life (almost) directly, but to see God through the phenomena of creation (יש מאין ex-nihilo) is far less obvious and apparent, and is known through knowing מחי’ה first.
Thus חיות is the obvious read and הוי’ה is the not so obvious read which we get to know through the more obvious ואתה מחי’ את כולם.
