The Haftarah of Parshas Beshalach is the Song of Devorah (a woman) because women suffered more deeply under Pharaoh's decree against children, and therefore their joy in the redemption was greater than that of the men. Unlike Pharaoh, who stood between the Jews and their past (Egypt), Amalek stood between the Jews and their future (Torah), teaching us that while we rely on God to handle physical threats, we must fight with every ounce of our own strength against apathy or anything that cools our excitement for holiness. The "New Year for Trees" reminds us that true growth is defined by our ability to produce "fruits"—students and influence—that actually reveal their potential in the world. This class, taught by Rabbi Shais Taub, is based on Parshas Beshalach in Likkutei Sichos Vol. 1. 📄 PDF of Sicha: https://heyzine.com/flip-book/d94df26ca1.html 📄 PDF of Sicha in English by SIE: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KNo-dCrRI_e_EjsgvwjDsNymt8xW-VmT/view 📖 Buy Likkutei Sichos Vol. 1 at Kehot: https://store.kehotonline.com/mobile/prodinfo.asp?number=HRE-LS1 0:00:00 Tips for driving in the snow *Sicha I: The Song of Redemption* 0:01:17 Why the Haftarah is the Song of Devorah 0:13:52 Why did the women celebrate with greater joy than the men? 0:16:27 Why women bore the brunt of Pharaoh’s decrees 0:19:10 Deeper pain, deeper redemption, deeper praise 0:23:20 The Nile as livelihood and secular culture 0:25:39 The baalabos mentality versus Chassidishkeit 0:28:27 Pharaoh’s decree: first make him a breadwinner 0:29:46 “Sunday School” and more English words 0:44:10 Rejecting the influence of the "friendly" Pharaohs 1:01:04 Women will have greater joy than men *Sicha III: Pharaoh and Amalek* 1:21:26 Two enemies: Egypt and Amalek 1:24:15 Pharaoh blocks the past; Amalek blocks the future 1:31:10 Hashem fights physical threats; we fight spiritual ones 1:38:23 Amalek as coolness and apathy 1:40:59 Psychological barriers and the four-minute mile *Sicha IV: Trees, Fruit, and Influence* 1:52:01 New Year for Trees 1:53:10 Beis Shammai vs Beis Hillel 2:00:23 The four-month turnover 2:08:46 Be like a tree 2:13:38 Holding fast to the Tree of Life --- *For more classes from Rabbi Shais Taub:* 🌐 *Website:* https://www.soulwords.org/ *Follow Rabbi Shais Taub:* 📸 *Instagram:* https://www.instagram.com/rabbi_shais_taub 🎥 *TikTok:* https://www.tiktok.com/@rabbi_shais_taub 🐦 *X (Twitter):* https://www.x.com/ShaisTaub 📘 *Facebook:* https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61573478244968 💼 *LinkedIn:* https://www.linkedin.com/in/shais-taub-81a95466/ 🎧 *Listen to the SoulWords Podcast:* 🎵 *Spotify:* https://open.spotify.com/show/51E7XHWFDbZCGJQz7CoAZP 🍏 *Apple Podcasts:* https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/soulwords-full-library/id1450892501 *About SoulWords:* SoulWords is a virtual community hosted by Rabbi Shais Taub, where people come together to explore the spiritual insights of Torah and discover their unique purpose.
