the discussion is that there is an idea of an "AMUD" which means a beam, but there are two beams:
1) a (spiritual) beam of light represented by the krashim
2) s (physical) beam that stands on the ground represented by mitzvos
the difference between the two is: the spiritual beam is from heaven to earth ad the physical beam (which is atzmus) is from the bottom up.
