The Monroe Fire Department and Monroe EMS came together this week for a joint training drill focused on vehicle extractions.
Using an old ambulance, several cars, and even a school bus, first responders practiced rescuing people from crash scenes. Dummies were used to simulate victims trapped inside vehicles.
Firefighters and EMS crews worked side by side, testing various tools and techniques, including chainsaws and heavy-lifting equipment, to safely remove and transport patients.
The drill gave teams a chance to sharpen their coordination and response time, preparing them for real emergencies where every second counts.
